This work deals with the technical aspects of parallelism with a focus on the typical philosophies of operation and protection of parallelism adopted today by cogeneration industries, based on studies carried out by FIGENER in the last two years. The work is developed in order to identify the aspects that can be improved and that allow a better integration between self-producers and electric energy concessionaires aiming at the global improvement of the quality of the electric energy supply and the energy efficiency.
This paper discusses the practical aspects of implementing the optimizer for COPENE's thermoelectric generation system, which aims to determine the operational conditions that minimize fuel and electricity costs. The focus will be on the modeling, simulation and database of the system and the interface with the supervisory system.
Despite the fact that digital protection, measurement and control systems are already used on a large scale in electrical power systems, many of the criteria used in electrical systems are still the same as those of electromechanical equipment, not allowing the full use of all the benefits that this type of equipment can bring to the electrical system as a whole.
