In partnership with Progen, since 2018 Figener has participated in a basic and executive project to close a combined cycle located in Rio de Janeiro.
The UTE that is being modified consists of 2 Siemens W501F gas turbines, 175 MW each, which burn natural gas as the main fuel and can operate with diesel oil. Since the first start, for several reasons, including unavailability of natural gas, the Plant operated only in an open cycle despite having recovery boilers and steam turbine.
Given that it would not be possible to use several existing equipment, the project included the installation of new equipment, aiming at a net power of at least 507 MW.
The following are being installed: 2 new recovery boilers with 3 pressure and reheat levels, a steam turbine with a power of 175 MW, axial surface condenser, direct cooling system, water intake, cooling water system, BT electrical system and MT, new 138 kV substation span, control system, compressed air system, fire fighting system, water and effluent treatment systems.
In addition to engineering support, FIGENER had the opportunity to perform Measurements for Performance Assessments of Existing Turbines.
