Over the past few years, FIGENER has participated in several improvement projects for Motor Thermoelectric Plants.
Below, some projects are briefly shown:
Expansion of the Engine Cooling System:
- Conducting Tests on the Old System, where it was confirmed that the Radiator had a lower capacity than necessary;
- Evaluation of the best position of the equipment based on studies with the aid of CFD;
- Installation Project for Evaporative Chillers to operate in parallel with existing radiators;
- 16 exchangers of 2.5 MWt;
- Project to Install a 700 m³ Tank and 03 Replacement Water Pumps;
- Metal Structure Design
These coolers operate in parallel with the existing radiators, being able to return to the exclusive operation with the radiators through valve maneuvers.
Installation of Dampers with Sealing System
Objective: The system has the function of protecting stopped engines from the effect of corrosion by sulfuric acid. The plant has a common chimney for 20 engines, and when an engine stopped for maintenance, the adjacent engines flow back. Upon encountering a cold surface, condensation of sulfuric acid occurred on the metal. The project included:
- Installation of 40 sealing dampers (1 damper per motor generator)
- Installation of 4 fan skids
- Installation of Heat Exchangers - Heating System
- Electromechanical interconnection of equipment
- Definition of the Concept of Operation
The Dampers and Main equipment were designed and supplied by German companies. FIGENER carried out all the installation and interconnection engineering of the purchased equipment. The assembly of the system was also monitored by FIGENER.
Installation of Oily Water Treatment System / Sludge
The project focused on the treatment of oily water at the Plant, with the aim of enriching the Borra from upstream processes. With the elimination of water, a higher value is expected in its sale. In addition, a centrifugal water separator was installed in parallel, in order to return the water within CONAMA standards.
The project consisted of:
- Installation of 2 centrifugal separators (1 of sludge and 1 of water);
- Installation of new tanks;
- Interconnection of equipment, with the installation of a dedicated pipe rack for the new oily water treatment system;
- New building project to house the equipment
Boiler Installation
The plant had an auxiliary boiler of 1t/h, burning heavy fuel oil. The boiler was replaced by a larger boiler, 4 t/h, starting to burn NG. FIGENER participated in the specification of the boiler, technical analysis of suppliers, 3D modeling of equipment, specifications for assembly and interconnection of equipment.
Installation of Mist Eliminators (Oil Mist)
- Installing the Mist Separator
- Access platform design
Installation of Centrifugal Separators for purification of fuel and lubricating oil:
- Equipment installation
- Various interconnection (Carbon Steel / Water / Return / Power pipes, electrical, automation)
- Installation of new water pumps for cleaning the centrifuges
- Mounting Specification
